Crosswise
Learning, a privately held Texas limited liability company based in
College Station, was founded for the sole purpose of providing
financial and risk management education to the postsecondary student
population. The Carnegie Foundation’s Lee Shulman suggests in an August
2007 article entitled Perspectives: Educating for Democracy
that "if undergraduate education is designed to provide experiences
that can prepare the next generation's leaders in all spheres of
society, how can education for political engagement be ignored?" To
this we add “how can financial education be ignored?” One can certainly
argue the lasting effects of both politics and financial decisions
throughout a person’s lifetime, and the better prepared a person is for
these decisions the higher the odds of success are for that person.
When colleges and universities
reach out on a personal level to make students more successful, the
result is a closer relationship with those students. |
