CrosswiseLearning, a privately held Texas limited liability company based inCollege Station, was founded for the sole purpose of providingfinancial and risk management education to the postsecondary studentpopulation. The Carnegie Foundation’s Lee Shulman suggests in an August2007 article entitled Perspectives: Educating for Democracythat "if undergraduate education is designed to provide experiencesthat can prepare the next generation's leaders in all spheres ofsociety, how can education for political engagement be ignored?" Tothis we add “how can financial education be ignored?” One can certainlyargue the lasting effects of both politics and financial decisionsthroughout a person’s lifetime, and the better prepared a person is forthese decisions the higher the odds of success are for that person. When colleges and universitiesreach out on a personal level to make students more successful, theresult is a closer relationship with those students. |
